Day One Hundred Seventy Eight: June 26
This photo was taken just after sunset at the National World War II Memorial on the National Mall in downtown Washington, D.C. The states are arranged in the order they joined the union, alternating on either side with the first state on the left side of the monument, the second on the right side, and so on. Pennsylvania and Georgia, as the second and fourth states, respectively, appear next to one another. Somehow this seems fitting.
